Pendulum Skid Resistance Tester (AZA -1297)
This precision-engineered Pendulum Skid Resistance Tester from AZA Lab is designed to evaluate the friction (slip resistance) of road surfaces, airstrips, and flooring materials, especially under wet or humid conditions. It conforms to ASTM E303 and BS EN 1097-8, making it ideal for global infrastructure projects requiring reliable and repeatable slip resistance measurements.
Applications:
- Road Surface Friction Testing (Highways, Airport Runways, City Roads)
- Asphalt Pavement Marking Analysis
- Polished Stone Value (PSV) Testing
- Friction Coefficient Determination on flat, cambered, or gradient surfaces
- Construction Material Evaluation under wet surface conditions
Description
Working Principle:
The tester operates on the principle that the loss of potential energy of a swinging pendulum is equivalent to the work done by a rubber slider in overcoming surface friction.
-
The pendulum is released from a fixed horizontal position.
-
It swings down and the rubber slider at its end slides across the test surface.
-
The rebound height of the pendulum corresponds to the surface resistance:
Higher resistance = less swing back = higher Skid Resistance Value (SRV).
Compliance Standards:
-
ASTM E303 – Standard Test Method for Measuring Surface Frictional Properties
-
BS EN 1097-8 – Tests for mechanical and physical properties of aggregates
