LOS ANGELES ABRASION TESTING MACHINE AZA0986

The AZA0986 Los Angeles Abrasion Testing Machine is a heavy-duty laboratory instrument designed to evaluate the abrasion and impact resistance of aggregates used in roadworks, concrete, and asphalt applications. The machine accurately simulates the mechanical wear aggregates experience under traffic loads, ensuring material durability and compliance with international construction standards.

Key Functions

  • Tests abrasion resistance of coarse aggregates
  • Evaluates impact strength under repeated load cycles
  • Ensures material suitability for roads, highways, and structural concrete
  • Provides accurate, repeatable test results for quality control

Description

Description

Standards Compliance

  • IS 2386 (Part IV)

  • ASTM C131

  • AASHTO T-96

Construction & Design

  • Heavy-duty hollow steel drum mounted on a rigid steel frame

  • Drum size as per standards: 711 mm diameter × 508 mm length

  • Internal detachable shelf for lifting and dropping aggregates

  • Dust-sealed cover with locking mechanism

  • Smooth operation via ball-bearing supported shaft

Working Principle

The aggregate sample and the abrasive charge (steel balls) are placed inside the rotating drum. As the drum revolves, the internal shelf lifts and drops the materials repeatedly. The combined impact and abrasion simulate field conditions. After the specified revolutions, the material is sieved and the percentage wear is calculated.

Motor & Drive System

  • Powerful electric motor with heavy reduction gearbox

  • Controlled drum speed: 30–33 RPM

  • Built-in revolution counter for accurate cycle tracking
