Description

Description

TEST METHODS

  • ASTM D92
  • ISO 2592

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION

The AZA1290 determines flash and fire points using the Cleveland Open-Cup (COC) method for petroleum products with higher flash points, typically above 79 °C.

The sample is heated under controlled conditions using a programmable heating system. A motor-driven ignition arm automatically applies an electric spark ignition source at specified temperature intervals.

At the flash point, vapors above the sample ignite momentarily. Continued heating leads to the fire point, where sustained combustion persists for at least five seconds.

The system automatically detects flash and fire events using high-sensitivity ionization and optical sensing technology, eliminating subjective visual interpretation and ensuring highly repeatable test results.

AUTOMATIC FLAME EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM

The AZA1290 incorporates an intelligent automatic flame extinguishing mechanism that immediately seals the test cup and suppresses combustion if sustained fire conditions are detected.

This advanced protection system:

  • Prevents uncontrolled flame propagation
  • Enhances laboratory safety
  • Minimizes operator intervention
  • Automatically notifies users of emergency conditions
  • Safely halts the testing cycle

ROBUST SAFETY INTERLOCKS

The instrument continuously monitors critical operational parameters and automatically halts testing if abnormal conditions occur, including:

  • Ignition system failure
  • Sensor malfunction
  • Improper igniter arm positioning
  • Excessive temperature conditions
  • Flash point limit exceedance
  • Cooling or ventilation faults

These interlocks significantly reduce operational risk and improve long-term instrument reliability.
