Working Principle
The AZA0963 operates on a fully automated Marshall compaction mechanism. A motor-driven hammer weighing 4.536 kg (10 lbs) is repeatedly lifted and dropped from a fixed height of 457.2 mm (18 inches) onto the asphalt specimen contained within a standard Marshall mould.
The machine is equipped with a digital programmable blow counter, allowing the operator to pre-set the required number of blows (commonly 50 or 75 blows per face, as per design requirements). Once the programmed number of blows is completed, the compactor automatically stops, ensuring strict adherence to standard procedures and eliminating operator dependency.
An automatic mould rotation system ensures uniform distribution of compaction energy across the specimen surface, resulting in consistent density and improved repeatability of test results.
