PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION

The AZA1293 determines the flash point and fire point of combustible liquids using the Cleveland Open Cup method.

The sample is heated under controlled conditions in a polished stainless-steel open cup. An ignition source is automatically or manually applied at specified temperature intervals.

The flash point is identified when vapors above the sample ignite momentarily. Continued heating allows determination of the fire point when sustained combustion occurs.
