Description
Principle of Operation
The Timken Load Tester operates by pressing a rotating steel test ring against a stationary steel test block under a progressively increasing load. The test continues until scuffing, seizure, or scoring occurs.
The applied load at the failure point determines the Timken OK Load, which quantifies the EP performance of the tested lubricant.
This method is suitable for both lubricating oils and greases containing extreme-pressure additives, and is used globally by lubricant formulators, R&D centers, and QA/QC laboratories.
